Exciting news! Austin Film Society is bringing cutting-edge queer filmmaker Jonathan Caouette to Austin to present four of his groundbreaking works.
TARNATION (2003) is a startlingly raw and innovative personal documentary about the director’s coming of age as a queer youth in Houston, under the care of his psychologically disturbed, schizophrenic mother.
ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES (2009) provides a dynamic, multimedia look into the unique cult music festival All Tomorrow’s Parties.
ALL FLOWER’S IN TIME (2010) is a short, experimental narrative starring Chloe Sevigny that engages childhood imaginings and the mysterious red-eye effect.
WALK AWAY RENEE (2012) picks up where TARNATION left off, following Caouette on a road trip to move his mentally ill mother from Texas to New York, through a captivating mix of home movies, musical montage and psychedelic experimentations.
TARNATION (7:00pm) and ALL TOMORROW’S PARTIES (10:00pm) screen November 5th at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz. ALL FLOWERS IN TIME and WALK AWAY RENEE screen at 7:00pm on November 7th at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz. For more information, visit the AFS webpages listed above.
